PERSONAL FINANCIAL LITERACY This course covers a wide variety of personal financial literacy concepts to prepare students to manage their financial future. Students will learn to manage credit and debit, make informed financially responsible decisions, develop goals and spending plans, and learn ways to save and invest to achieve long-term financial goals. Exploring Computer Science Exploring Computer Science is a year-long course consisting of 6 units, approximately 6 weeks each. The course was developed around a framework of both computer science content and computational practice. Assignments and instruction are contextualized to be socially relevant and meaningful for diverse students. Units utilize a variety of tools/platforms, and culminate with final projects. Students interested in pursuing a career in computer science are encouraged to take this course. Web Design & Development WANTED: PROBLEM SOLVERS -- This is a great course if you like solving your coding errors. In search of students who are creative and want to design their own websites in html, css, javascript and other web development tools. Looking for students with good organizational skills to apply in designing that beautiful and animated website. You will learn to take a website from the beginning to launching a website. Sports and Entertainment Marketing. Sports Marketing is a subdivision of marketing which focuses both on the promotion of sports events and teams as well as the promotion of other products and services through sporting events and sports teams. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, then this is the class for you! Entrepreneurship & E-Commerce Do you want to own your own business? Would you like to be your own boss? Do you have a passion for creativity and innovation? We are looking for students that are interested in starting and managing their own business. This course will help you see what it is like to be an entrepreneur. Come along and create your very own business logo, a new and innovative product and even a 3D Storefront for your business! Create marketing materials and compete with your classmates for the best business idea ever. Digital Electronics This fast-paced, course in applied logic gives students the opportunity to learn how computers/logic circuits think and control the world around us. Students will use applied math to understand the logic behind the circuits, as well as computer simulation software to design and test digital circuitry prior to the actual construction of the circuits. Students will have the opportunity to learn everything from basic electronic circuit design, logic circuit design, all the way up to and including programming and interfacing with micro-controllers, which includes robot applications. Student can expect to use the engineering design process to think critically and independently solve open-ended problems. AP Computer Science-A Computer Science is the study of computers and computational systems. Unlike electrical and computer engineers, computer scientists deal mostly with software and software systems; this includes their theory, design, development, and application. Using the Java programming language, the course introduces program design, including static and object-oriented programming. It also introduces data structures, searching and sorting algorithms, and algorithm comparison. Foods & Nutrition Science This course prepares students with skills in nutritious meal planning and preparation. Students explore current concepts of nutrition and the application to healthy lifestyle patterns. Topics include the relationship of nutrients to optimal health, weight management, exercise, nutritional labeling, and scientific principles of food production, preparation, and consumption. Intercultural Foods This is an advanced course designed to introduce students to the multi-cultural aspects of people through the study of regional and foreign foods. Units of study include world nutritional concerns, socio-cultural influences on food choices, meal planning, and preparation. Gourmet food preparation will also be explored. Principles of Accounting & Finance Do you love counting money and managing finances? Thinking about majoring in business in college? Want to learn more about a high-paying, in-demand career? Have no fear, Principles of Accounting is here! This class will teach you how to analyze and record business transactions, prepare financial statements, and make business decisions. We will also explore the many types of accounting careers including forensic accounting and government accounting. Principles of Business Management Want to know more about how businesses operate? Interested in learning how to be a strong, influential leader? Thinking about majoring in business in college? Principles of Business Management is your one-stop-shop to learn about the functions and operations of business. From managing employees to global business opportunities, the course will give you an introduction to all things business. |
